  I use to go to LJS as a kid and hadn't been to one in many years. I went today and nobody was in the parking lot or drive thru. I thought they might be closed for renovations or something. I decided to try anyway and they were open, though there was a typed note on the door with a notice of change of hours. There were no other customers inside either; I was starting to second guess my decision to go here.
  
  I was pleasantly surprised. Alejandro was very friendly and the food was delicious!

  GROSS Yuk! i've never eaten here before if I can give it -1000 stars I would I had to throw it out it was that bad I ordered $11 platter the rice was cold  it came out with in a minute really disgusting
  
  I don't even know what kind of fish it is the shrimp was terrible the only thing that was decent was the water!

  I for some reason was in the odd mood for fried fish, hush puppies and a crab cake. In no particular order. Long John silvers is one of those places I heard about and frequented growing up and then didn't return back until... hmm... now, and let's just say I guess for good reason! I arrived through the broken door to find a pre occupied man with a pink pony tail pacing behind the cash register. It seemed as though my desire to order food bored him and that I was taking up his valuable time that he could be using listening to music. Which was playing in the back.
  
  I ordered two pieces of fish, hush puppies and a crab cake. So let's skip some more of the horrendous customer service and get into the food. The crab cake was my first victim... actually I was its first victim. The mash of ingredients used blended together with one foul mix underlying a pungent fishy taste that almost annihilated my taste buds completely. I set that aside and tried a hushpuppy. Well, I guess this is LJS's version of a hush puppy, but to be quite frank I don't think I found anything that resembled or tasted like a hush puppy, not even the pea sized balls that were so mockingly miss-named.
  
  Well, I still wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt, maybe they just messed up on the recipes, but the fish I mean they couldn't possibly mess up the the simple recipe for fried cod. Well I took my first bite, and let's just say I will probably be heading to the dentist now because I bit a bite of fried batter that was so hard I think I heard my tooth chip. Then I was seconded with a soggy mass of wet slimy fish coated with soggy batter underneath the tanker sized mass of cement like batter. I immediately stood up threw my food away and walked to the car where I sit informing you of my experience. This is my first yelp review and for good reason. Please save you 15 bucks and use it for something much much better. I hope I may have helped anyone else avoid my tragic experience at long John silvers in El Cajon. It was a sad day.

  This is the last Long John Silver's left I think in San Diego County . I sure hope it doesn't close down , because it's really good . We get the 8 piece family meal and choose fries and coleslaw for our 2 sides . It also comes with the most amazing hush puppies I love their hush puppies.
  Today a super cool man named Ray served me . He was so cool and we even had a great conversation.  I hope he's there the next time I visit .

  Love the hushpuppies & slaw plus chicken & fish. Super clean & hot food. Very polite service. Even brought food to table. Have gone thru drive thru before & was my first time in. They even had good music. That's a 6 star rating
